MBC Theatre Opens 2012-13 Season

Left to right: Jazmine Jackson as Barbara, Brent Bussey as John, and Linnea Barklund as Mary.

The Mary Baldwin College Theatre opens its 2012-2013 season with Run for Your Wife, a classic British farce, written by master of the genre, Ray Cooney.

John Smith, a simple London cab driver and family man, has everything… including two wives, two homes, and two policemen on his trail. When he suddenly finds his double life on the verge of being discovered, he goes to enormous lengths to keep his secret under wraps.

Cooney takes the audience along with ALL the Smiths as one husband embarks on a hilarious journey. Run for Your Wife is directed by Frank Southerington and includes a number of fresh new faces: Jazmine Jackson as Barbara, Amy Verburg as Detective Sergeant Troughton, Stephanie McKamey as the reporter, and Zed Kosowitz as Stanley Gardner. Also gracing the stage are valley theatre veterans Linnea Barklund as Mary, Brent Bussey as John, Noah Jones as Detective Sergeant Porterhouse, and David Techman as Bobby. The show will run October 3-7, with 7:30 performances Wednesday through Saturday and a 2:00 Sunday matinee. Tickets are $12, and discounted at $7 for both students and senior citizens. Season tickets are also available for $50, and only $25 for students and senior citizens. All tickets may be purchased online, at the door, or by phone at 540-887-7189.  Box office hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00am to 5:00pm and during the run from 6:30-7:20, 1:00-1:50 Sunday.

Mary Baldwin also invites you to join us for the continuation of our season with one of Broadway’s most acclaimed musicals, Chicago with Music by John Kandar, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse,  which will run November 9-11 & 14-18, 2012.   The season continues with Edward Albee’s Three Tall Women from February 13-17, 2012, and Proof by David Auburn, April 3-7, 2012. And be sure not to miss our semi-annual New One Act Play Festival, The Play’s the Thing on May 8-12, 2012.
